Privacy policy
Last updated October 29, 2026
AikNote is run by remarQable LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy says what we collect when you use aiknote.com and the AikNote apps, what we do with it, and who else sees it. Questions go to dev@remarqable.io.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign in with Google we get your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We don’t get your Google password.
- What you put in. Your notes, the links, images and files you drop in, the questions you ask and the answers you get, your tags, folders and spaces, and earlier versions of your notes.
- Trying it without an account. If you write before signing in, we make a guest account tied to a cookie in your browser. It holds what you write and nothing about who you are.
- Technical data. Your IP address, browser and the pages you request, in our server logs and to enforce rate limits; and counts of how much AI each account uses (not what was said).
What we do with it
We use it to run AikNote for you: to store your notes, make the card for each one, file it, find it when you search, and answer your questions. We also use it to keep the service secure, stop abuse, and fix problems.
We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your notes to train AI models.
Who else handles it
To do that work we send some of your data to these companies, which process it for us:
- Anthropic (the Claude AI models): the text of a note, or of the page or video transcript it links to, to make its card and file it; and your question, with the notes that bear on it, to answer it.
- Voyage AI: the text of your notes and searches, turned into numbers that let search find notes by meaning.
- Google: sign-in; and, for YouTube links, the video’s address, to read its title and chapters.
- TranscriptAPI: the ID of a YouTube video you drop in, to get its transcript.
- DigitalOcean: hosts our servers, database and encrypted backups, in the United States.
When you drop in a link, our server visits that page to read it, as a browser would. The website sees a visit from our server, not from you.
If you connect another app to your notes (for example Claude or ChatGPT), that app can read or change your notes as far as you allow, under its own privacy policy. You can disconnect it at any time in your settings.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect people from harm, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy keeps applying to it.
Who can see your notes
You do. So do the people you invite to your spaces, and anyone who has a share link you made, until you turn it off. People at remarQable can open an account only when needed to fix a problem you report, investigate abuse, or comply with the law.
How long we keep it
- Your notes stay until you delete them. A deleted note goes to Trash, where you can restore it.
- Deleting your account (in Settings) removes your notes, files and account at once.
- Our backups are kept for up to 12 months, so deleted data can stay in them until they expire.
- Guest accounts nobody has used for 30 days are deleted.
- Server logs are kept for a short time for security and debugging.
Cookies
We use only the cookies AikNote needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that remembers which space you were in, and one with your time zone, so dates are right. Your browser’s storage also keeps your theme and any unsaved draft. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices and rights
- Download all your notes from Settings, as Markdown files.
- Delete your account from Settings.
- Ask us to turn off AI for your account. Your notes then aren’t sent to Anthropic or Voyage AI, and AikNote files them by simple rules instead.
- Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, including to object to how we use your data and to complain to your data protection authority. We’ll answer within 30 days.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS, share links are stored only as fingerprints, and backups are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please don’t store things like passwords to your bank in AikNote.
Children
AikNote is not for children under 13, or under 16 where the law asks for that. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we’ll delete it.
Where your data is
We store and process data in the United States. If you use AikNote from elsewhere, your data is transferred there.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and for a change that matters we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
